Brake Pedal Assy: Adjustments

Measure brake pedal height and freeplay, Fig. 5, with brake pedal fully released.

On Amigo, Pickup & Rodeo models, pedal height should be 6.85-7.24 inches. On Trooper II models, pedal height should be 7.8-8.2 inches. On
Trooper II, pedal freeplay should be .28-.43 inch. On Amigo, Pickup & Rodeo models, pedal freeplay should be .23-.35 inch.

If measurements are not within specifications, adjust brake pedal as follows:
a. Disconnect stop light switch.
b. Loosen pushrod locknut.
c. Rotate pushrod as needed to bring pedal height within specifications, then torque locknut to 13-16 ft. lbs.
d. Install stop light switch. Adjust clearance between switch housing and brake pedal to .02-.04 inch.
e. Check that pedal freeplay is within specifications.
