Vehicle Speed Sensor: Description and Operation
The Vehicle Speed Sensor is an integral part of the speedometer assembly. It is a switch that generates four pulses per revolution of the speedometer
cable. By calculating the frequency of these pulses, the ECM determines vehicle road speed. This input is factored into various ECM calculations,
including ignition timing, canister purge, air injection and fuel pressure regulator control.
