Starter Solenoid: Testing and Inspection
Complete each test within three to five seconds. If time limit is exceeded, possible damage to the starter solenoid may result.
PULL-IN TEST:
1. Connect the battery negative terminal with the solenoid switch body and the C terminal. When current is applied to the terminal as shown in Fig. 5
from the battery positive terminal, the pinion should flutter.
HOLD-IN MAINTENANCE TEST:
21. Disconnect the lead at the C terminal as shown in Fig. 6. The pinion should continue to flutter.
RETURN TEST:
