Control Arm: Service and Repair
Upper Control Arm
NOTE: - Before replacing the upper control arm, perform the following procedures:
^
Raise the vehicle and support the frame with suitable safety stands.
^
Remove the wheel and tire assembly.
^
Remove the brake caliper and disconnect brake pipe.
^
Support the lower control arm with a jack.
REMOVAL
1. Detach the speed sensor cable (If equipped with ABS).
2. Loosen, then remove the nut and cotter pin and then remove the upper ball joint from the knuckle using a J-36831 remover tool.
CAUTION: Be careful not to break the ball joint boot.
3. Remove the upper ball joint then remove the bolt and plate.
4. Remove the nut assembly.
