Adapter Case

Repalacement

REMOVAL    

PREPARATION:  Disconnect negative (-) battery cable. Drain fluid.

1. Adapter case oil pan. Remove twelve 10 mm screws, adapter case oil pan and gasket. 

NOTE:  Oil pan still contains transmission fluid. Place a large drain container under the oil pan. Drain the fluid carefully. 

2. Wiring harness: 

a. Disconnect wiring harness from force motor solenoid, converter clutch solenoid and 5 pin connector of adapter case. Pull only on connectors,

not on wiring harness. 

b. Remove wiring harness. 
c. Remove 11 mm converter clutch solenoid bolt and disconnect earth harness from converter clutch solenoid. 

3. Adapter case valve body. Seven 13 mm screws, adapter case valve body assembly, transfer plate and two gaskets.

INSTALLATION   

NOTE:  To install, follow the removal steps in the reverse order, noting the following points; 

1. Adapter case valve body:

a. Inspect electrical 5 pin connector and seal of adapter case. Replace if necessary. 
b. Install wiring harness assembly in bottom of adapter case. 
c. Install gasket, transfer plate and gasket. 
d. Install adapter case valve body complete and seven 13 mm screws.

Torque 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).

2. Wiring harness:

a. Install 6.5mm connector of earth harness under the head of the converter clutch solenoid bolt.

Torque 10 Nm (87 inch lbs.).

b. Connect harness assembly to converter clutch solenoid and force motor.

3. Adapter case oil pan: 

a. Install oil pan gasket, oil pan and twelve 10 mm screws.

Torque 11 Nm (96 inch lbs.).

b. Fill transmission through the overfill screw hole of oil pan, using ATF DEXRON-III. 
c. Connect negative (-) battery cable.
