SERVICE INFORMATION
Whenever the Rear Drum Brakes require service it is important to refer to the Workshop Manual. The service procedures have remained the same since
1998 Model Year and have indicated that all Drum Brake Adjustments require backing off the adjustment of the Parking Brake before performing any
adjustments on the Drum Service Brakes. Performing this procedure will increase brake performance and possibly increase the life of the Drum Brake
Lining.
As outlined in Section 5C of the current \Vorkshop Manual, the tirst two procedures require "fully releasing" the Parking Brake Handle and then
loosening the Parking Brake Adjustment. After performing the Drum Brake Adjustment, the Parking Brake must then be re-adjusted to specification.
Failure to properly adjust the Drum Brakes according to the Workshop Manual may cause certain brake symptoms to occur. in addition, the
Self-Adjuster (that is attached to the Trailing Shoe) may not perform to specifications. For more information on the operation and servicing of the Drum
