Low Fuel Lamp/Indicator: Description and Operation

description.
Low Fuel Warning Light
The engine (M/T) or powertrain (A/T) control module (ECM or PCM) monitors the fuel level by the resistance level in the fuel tank unit. The fuel tank
unit resistance varies from approximately 80 ohms with the tank full,to 290 ohms with the tank empty. The ECM or PCM then uses this information to
provide ground (through the multiplexed indicator control unit for the 3.2L) to the low the warning light illuminating it when the fuel level is low.
Bulb Check
With the starter switch ON or START battery voltage is applied through the CB-11 METER fuse to the indicator lights. The generator will provide
ground to the circuit until the engine is running. The lights go on to test the light bulbs and then go off after the engine is started.
