Timing Belt: Adjustments

TIMING BELT ADJUSTMENT

1. Align the crankshaft pulley timing groove with the mark on the oil pump.

2. Make sure that the camshaft pulley timing mark is aligned with the upper surface of the cylinder head and the dowel pin is in the up position.

3. Install the belt in the following order.

1) Crankshaft timing pulley
2) Camshaft pulley
3) Coolant pump pulley
4) Tension pulley

4. Insert a hex wrench into the tension pulley hexagonal hole. Rotate the pulley anticlockwise to tension the belt. Hold the pulley stationary and

temporarily tighten the bolt.

5. Turn the crankshaft two complete counterclockwise revolutions and align the crankshaft timing pulley groove with the mark on the oil pump.
6. Loosen the tension pulley bolt.
7. Insert a hex wrench into the tension pulley hexagonal hole. Rotate the pulley anticlockwise to tension the belt. Hold the pulley stationary and

tighten the bolt to the specified torque.
