About the Trooper
The Trooper was Isuzu's mid-size SUV from 1981 to 2002, sold in Japan as the Bighorn and under many other badges, including the Acura SLX in the US and the Vauxhall Monterey in Britain. The first generation, based on the Isuzu Faster pickup, was sold in the US as the Trooper II. The second generation arrived in 1991, with a refresh for 1998.

- 1984–1989 (first generation, Trooper II): the 2.0-litre (G200Z), 2.3-litre and 2.6-litre (4ZE1) fours, and the 2.2-litre diesel (C223).
- 1992–1997 (second generation): the 3.2-litre V6 (6VD1) in SOHC and DOHC form, in two and four-door models.
- 1998–2002: the DOHC 3.5-litre V6.
Tip: the 1996 Acura SLX is a rebadged Trooper with the 3.2 V6.
