Popping Noise When Brake Pedal Applied - Install Capacitor - Repair Procedure
Issue:
Owners of some X-TYPE vehicles may express a concern over a "popping" noise being heard through the audio system when the brake pedal is applied.
To solve this concern, a capacitor can be installed into the brake pedal switch.
Action:
In case of a customer complaint of the above condition, install a capacitor into the brake switch circuit, by following the workshop procedure outlined
below.
WORKSHOP PROCEDURE
1.
Open driver's door.
2.
Power the driver's seat to the furthest position back.
3.
Open hood, fit fender protector covers.

6.
Cut brake pedal switch harness from electrical connector.
Note:
Cut the brake pedal switch harness as close to the brake pedal switch electrical connector as possible.

Align butt-splice connector (red 418-107) from the harness repair kit with one of the stripped harness cables.
9.
Crimp butt-splice connector to the cable using special tool (418-116) from the harness repair kit (418-S065).
10.
Align butt-splice connector (red 418-107) from the harness repair kit (418-S065) with the second stripped harness cable.
11.
Crimp butt-splice connector to the second cable using special tool (418-116) from the harness repair kit (418-S065).
12.
Slide heat shrink tubes (418-104) from the harness repair kit over the butt-slice connectors onto the harness cables.
