Remove the outboard track bar mounting bracket and the inboard reinforcement bracket (Figure 2).

Inspect the sill metal surface at the inner reinforcement attachment area for cracking.

If no cracks are found, proceed to Step 5.

If cracking is evident, but there is no metal separation, obtain authorization from your Zone Service Office to repair the sill per the "sill repair
procedure" and then proceed to Step 5.

If cracks have progressed to metal separation, obtain Zone Service Office authorization to replace the sill assembly following normal Body
Shop replacement procedures and then proceed to Step 5.
Note:
New fastener components (bolts, washers, double ended studs, nuts and cotter pin) are provided in the recall package and should be used for
the following installations.
5.
Install the supplied inboard reinforcement bracket and double ended stud assembly (Figure 2).
6.
Install the supplied outboard track bar bracket (Figure 2).
7.
Reconnect the track bar to the track bar bracket (Figure 1).
Torque Specifications:

In board reinforcement bracket bolts (2) 155 N-m (115 Ft. Lbs.)
^
Outboard track bar bracket double ended stud nuts (2) 100 Nm (75 Ft. Lbs.)

Outboard track bar bracket to sill bolts/nuts (2) 121 Nm (90 Ft. Lbs.)
^
Track bar stud to mounting bracket nut (1) 85 Nm (65 Ft. Lbs.)
C. Sill Repair Procedure

The engine must be removed from the vehicle for working access to properly repair the affected sill area.
^
This repair procedure is required only on vehicles where cracking is detected at the track bar inner reinforcement attachment area of the sill. If
cracking has progressed to metal separation, the sill assembly must be replaced.
1.
Remove the hood.
2.
Disconnect the battery cables and remove the battery.
