Bleed Brake System:

1.

Fill the master cylinder reservoir to the V-shaped MAX fill mark with new Mopar brake fluid or an equivalent with SAE J1703 and DOT 3
ratings.

2.

Connect the negative battery cable.

3.

Turn the ignition key to the ON position to start the brake booster pump. Apply the brake pedal several times to distribute fluid through the
system. Refill the reservoir as necessary after the pump stops running. NOTE: It takes approximately 80 seconds for the pump to fully charge
the system. The pump will shut off when the system is fully charged. CAUTION: Do not let the pump run dry while it is running. The pump
can be severely damaged if it runs dry for any length of time. Check the reservoir fluid level frequently and add fluid as needed. Turn the
ignition key OFF.

4.

Raise vehicle on hoist. Thoroughly bleed the front and rear brakes following the procedure in the Service Manual. Check for any leakage.

5.

Install the windshield washer fluid reservoir and fill.

6.

Turn the ignition key to ON. Ensure the red and yellow brake system indicator lights go on and off after the system selftest.

7.

With the key still ON, wait for five minutes without applying the brakes. The pump should not restart during this time.

8.

If one or both indicator lights stay on, a system fault is present. If the pump restarts during the five minute period a fault code may be
generated. Use the DRB II to identify any ABS system faults and correct them.

9.

Road test to check for proper brake pedal feel and brake operation.

10.

Check the system status again using the DRB II and any faults generated should be diagnosed and corrected. Clear any fault codes after
repair.
