Clicking / Scraping Sound From Clutch Pedal Area When Turning Steering Wheel
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves diagnosing the sound and modifying the clutch switch down stop flag.

NOTE:
This bulletin applies to Right Hand Drive (RHD) models built prior to March 27, 2007 (MDH0327XX).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Some customers may experience a clicking or scraping sound coming from the clutch pedal area when making turns. This sound will only occur when
customers tilt the steering column to its full down position.
DIAGNOSIS:
Start the vehicle and place the transmission in neutral. Place the column tilt mechanism in the full down position. Rotate the steering wheel while
listening for the sound. If the sound is heard, depress the clutch pedal to see if the sound stops. If the sound stops, inspect the lower steering column at
the area of the clutch switch down stop flag (Fig. 1 ). If witness marks or physical contact is seen between the clutch switch down stop flag and column
shaft, Perform the Repair Procedure.
