Wheel Bearing: Adjustments
Wheel Bearings Adjust
FULL-FLOATING AXLE
1. Remove axle shaft as described in Axle Shaft, Remove.
2. Straighten lip of lockwasher and remove locknut and lockwasher.
3. Raise and support vehicle.
4. Rotate wheel and torque adjusting nut to 50 ft. lbs. to seat bearings. Back off nut 1/6 turn or until wheel rotates freely without lateral movement.
5. Install locknut, torquing to 50 ft. lbs., and bend over lockwasher lip.
