SUBJECT
Crankshaft Position Sensor - Recall Campaign
This bulletin provides information on a recall campaign to replace the Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKP) on certain Optima 2.5 and 2.7 liter V-6 engines.
The CKP installed in some 2001 and 2002MY Optima models equipped with 2.5 and 2.7 liter V-6 engines produced between 9/9/00 and 8/17/01 may
have a manufacturing defect involving damage to a capacitor on its internal printed circuit board. A CKP with a damaged capacitor could cause engine
stalling.
To correct this situation, Kia is recalling affected 2001 and 2002MY Optima V-6 models to replace the CKP
