Clutch Release Bearing: Service and Repair
Removal
1. Remove the transaxle.
2. Remove the release fork attaching bolt.
3. Remove the release bearing.
Inspection
Notice: The clutch release bearing is sealed, and should not be washed in solvent.
1. Turn bearing while applying force in axial direction. If bearing sticks or has excessive resistance, replace it.
Installation
1. Apply a light film of Lubricant XG-1C, or equivalent, on the following areas:
^
The sliding surface on the transaxle bearing support
^
The release fork where it contacts the bearing
^
The front of the bearing where the pressure plate release spring contacts
Caution: Fill only the groove and remove all the excess grease from the bearing hub. If the excess grease remains in the hub, it can be forced onto
the clutch disc splices where it may contaminate the clutch friction surfaces.
