Transmission Temperature Sensor/Switch: Service and Repair
TRANSAXLE OIL TEMPERATURE SENSOR
DESCRIPTION
The oil temperature sensor (A) detects the automatic transaxle fluid temperature. The oil temperature sensor is a negative thermal coefficient type. The
resistance of the sensor increases when the oil temperature goes down and the resistance goes up when the oil temperature decreases.
Using the signal from this sensor, PCM corrects the solenoid drive duty when the fluid is cold (lower than 60°C) and hot (higher than 125°C). PCM
restricts the shift pattern to the economy mode when the fluid is cold. - Service point
INSPECTION
1. Remove the battery terminal.
2. Lift the vehicle.
3. Remove the side cover (A). (bolt: 2EA)
4. Disconnect the fluid temperature sensor connector (A).
5. Measure the resistance between terminals "1" and "2" of the fluid temperature sensor connector on the transaxle case.
