Spark Plug: Testing and Inspection
Inspection and Cleaning
1. Disconnect the spark plug cable from spark plug.
NOTE: Pull on the spark plug cable boot and then on the cable when removing the spark plug cable, as pulling on the cable may cause damage to
it.
2. Remove the spark plug from the cylinder head using a spark plug wrench.
3. Check the points as below for spark plug.
1. Broken insulator
2. Worn electrode
3. Carbon deposit
4. Damaged or broken gasket
5. Condition of the porcelain insulator in spark plug gap
4. Check the spark plug gap using a wire gap gauge, and adjust if necessary.
5. Replace the spark plug and tighten it to specified torque. Fastening with excessive torque may cause damage to the threads of cylinder head.
Tightening Torque : 20 - 30 N.m (204 - 306 kg.cm, 14.8 - 22.1 lb.ft)
