Description
Vehicles equipped with the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) require a special procedure for the assembly/disassembly of the tire and rim.
When the tire bead is dismounted/mounted from or to the rim, there is potential for damage to the TPMS sensor. KMA has received TPMS sensors
through the warranty return system that are broken into multiple pieces due to improper tire mounting/dismounting procedures. Kia recommends that the
bead breaker be positioned at least 90 degrees from the mounted position of the TPMS sensor to avoid sensor damage during tire dismounting. Certain
tire machines may have bead breaker assemblies positioned at the top and bottom of the tire; ensure that the tire is mounted on the machine with both
bead breaker assemblies positioned at least 90 degrees from the mounted position of the TPMS sensor. Start tire mounting approximately 5.9 in. (15 cm)
from the valve. Ensure that the mounting tool moves away from the valve.
CAUTION
Never allow the bead breaker assembly to contact the TPMS sensor. Sensors damaged due to improper mount/dismount procedures CANNOT be
replaced under warranty.
