Evaporative Emissions System: Technical Service Bulletins
Fuel System - Evaporative System Vent Filters
SOURCE: KIA Technician Times Volume 5 Issue 6, 2002
TITLE: Evaporative System Vent Filters
APPLIES TO: Spectra
SERVICE TIP:
When diagnosing evaporative system problems associated with canister close valve (vent valve) trouble, don't forget to check the condition of the vent
filter. Most vent filters are inside the canister housing under the vehicle. (Spectra filter is mounted to the left of the leak detection pump) The canister
close valve mounts to the filter. In areas with a lot of dust or dirt roads, the filter may clog and give the same symptoms as a sticking canister close
valve (MIL on with evap related codes or refueling problems).
