SERVICE TIP:
CONDITION
The rear hatch will not stay up in the fully open position.
CAUSE
This condition is caused by leaks that have developed in the rear hatch stay dampers. These leaks reduce the stay dampers opening force.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
The internal design of the rear hatch stay dampers has been changed to prevent the occurrence of gas leakage. This change was incorporated on all
vehicles produced after 5/11/98. The new rear hatch stay dampers are interchangeable with the earlier dampers.
The part numbers are as shown.
