Dimmer Switch: Component Tests and General Diagnostics

Circuit Testing

Check

1. Check for 12 volts between pins 3 and 1 of the I/P dimmer switch.
2. Check that voltage between pin 3 (RED/GRN) and ground varies as indicated when turning the adjusting knob.

Switch Testing

Check

1. Measure the voltage across terminals 1 and 4 of the interior lights dimmer switch
2. Check that the voltage varies as indicated when turning the adjusting knob.
