Power Steering Pump: Service and Repair
REMOVAL
1. Raise and support vehicle.
2. Place container under vehicle to catch power steering fluid as it drains.
NOTE: Cap or plug fluid lines and parts to prevent entry of foreign matter. Contamination of power steering fluid can result in damage to the
power steering pump and steering gear.
3. Remove four bolts; remove under cover for access to power steering fluid lines between the power steering pump and the steering gear and the
reserve tank.
4. Remove air conditioner tensioner pulley and bracket.
5. Remove air conditioner belt.
6. Place suitable container under vehicle to catch power steering fluid as it drains.
NOTE: Cap or plug fluid lines and ports to prevent entry of foreign matter. Contaminated fluid can damage power steering pump and steering
gear.
7. Disconnect pressure hose from damping pipe.
8. Disconnect suction hose No. 1 from pipe assembly No. 1.
Disconnecting the fluid lines allows most of the power steering fluid to drain from the power steering pump.
9. Remove nut and disconnect pressure hose from power steering pump.
10. Disconnect suction hose No. 1 from power steering pump
11. Loosen two bolts attaching power steering pump to relieve tension on drive belt.
