SERVICE TIP:
Many engine cooling fan clutches are being replaced unnecessarily. It is normal for the fan clutch to be engaged for the first few seconds after starting
the engine, and to periodically engage and disengage while driving.
Also, unfortunately, there have been several cases where the fan noise was misdiagnosed as automatic transmission slippage and transmissions were
replaced.
Please advise your customers that periodic clutch fan engagement is normal.
