Sportage 4WD L4-2.0L DOHC (1996)
Intake Manifold: Service and Repair
NOTE: On models equipped with airbag system, refer to Technician Safety Information for system disarming and arming procedures.
1. Release fuel system pressure as outlined in Technician Safety Information.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable.
3. Remove accelerator cable bracket at cylinder head.
4. Disconnect air intake tube at MAF sensor.
5. Remove idle air control valve hose, breather hose and vacuum line from air intake tube, Fig. 3, then remove air intake tube assembly.
6. Remove PCV hose at dynamic chamber.
7. Drain engine coolant.
8. Remove purge solenoid valve vacuum hose at dynamic chamber.
9. Disconnect TPS and idle air control electrical connectors.
10. Remove heater hoses at pipes.
11. Disconnect engine ground cable at intake manifold.
12. Remove brake booster vacuum line.
13. On models with cruise control, disconnect cruise control vacuum hose.
14. Remove vacuum hoses from fuel pressure regulator and EGR valve.
15. Disconnect electrical connector at EGR solenoid valve.
16. Remove front and rear dynamic chamber support brackets and intake manifold bracket.
17. Disconnect electrical connectors at injectors.
18. Disconnect fuel line from pressure regulator.
19. Disconnect fuel return line from fuel rail.
20. Remove oil filter.
21. Remove by pass pipe from heater hose.
