Transmission Shift Position Indicator Lamp: Description and Operation

When the ignition switch is in ON, voltage from the meter fuse is applied to the transmission range switch indicator positions. Based on the movement of
the shift lever, voltage is applied to a contact that corresponds to the range selected and its associated bulb, which then illuminates.
