Sportage 4WD L4-2.0L DOHC (1996)
Fuel Return Line: Technical Service Bulletins
Fuel System - Fuel Tank Rust
SOURCE: Kia Technician Times
TITLE: Fuel Tank Rust
APPLIES TO: Sportage
SERVICE TIP:
When diagnosing a Sportage for driveability problems (stumble, hesitation, etc.) and/or check engine lights for P0300 codes (misfire), check the fuel
system for rust contamination. Rust can be checked for by removing the fuel filter and cutting it open. If inspection of the filter reveals a reddish brown
powdery substance, the fuel tank probably has rust. If there is rust present in the fuel tank, the tank, fuel pump and fuel injectors should be replaced after
thoroughly cleaning fuel lines and fuel rail.
