Vacuum Brake Booster: Description and Operation
VACUUM BOOSTER
The vacuum booster is a diaphragm mounted between the brake pedal and the master cylinder. A vacuum hose connecting this unit to the engine
intake manifold draws air out from between the diaphragm and the master cylinder piston. With atmospheric pressure only on the brake pedal side of
the diaphragm, any pressure applied to this pedal is increased by 1 atmosphere as a form of power brakes.
