Muffler: Service and Repair

Removal 
 

Caution:  A hot exhaust system can produce a serious burn.

1. Remove two nuts at the tail pipe flange.
2. Remove two nuts at the forward flange of the muffler.

3. Remove four supports from muffler.
4. Remove muffler.
5. Remove the two gaskets.

Installation 

1. Lubricate the inside of the four muffler hangers with a silicone lubricant for ease of installation.
2. Clean mating surfaces as required.
3. Install two new gaskets on the bolts.
4. Hang the muffler in the four hangers.
5. Install the four nuts.

Tighten the four nuts to 70 ft. lbs. (100 Nm)
