Spectra Hard Start
This bulletin provides information related to cold engine hard start. Some 2002 and 2003 Spectra models built before 2/4/03 may experience hard
starting when the engine is cold. The condition usually occurs in ambient temperatures over 80°F. Once started, engine runs normally. To reduce
incidence of cold engine hard start complaints, the ECM logic was revised from 2/4/03 production.
For 2002 and 2003 Spectra complaint vehicles produced before 2/4/03, reprogramming software has been made available for the Hi-Scan Pro for use as
a field fix.

Use the procedure on the following pages to reprogram the ECM.
