Power Steering Fluid Reservoir: Service and Repair
Removal
1. Place container under vehicle to catch power steering fluid as it drains.
Notice: Cap or plug fluid lines and ports to prevent entry of foreign matter. Contamination of power steering fluid can result in damage to the
power steering pump and steering gear.
2. Disconnect fluid lines from reserve tank.
3. Lift reserve tank straight up to disengage from detent in bracket.
4. Remove two nuts attaching the bracket.
5. Lift bracket straight up clear of studs; remove from vehicle.
Installation
1. Position bracket over studs and install two nuts.
Tighten nuts to 71 inch lbs. (8 Nm).
2. Position reserve tank over bracket and press straight down until engagement with detent of bracket is felt.
3. Connect fluid lines to reserve tank.
Notice: Do not operate engine before adding power steering fluid as required to fill the system. Operation of the power steering system with
inadequate power steering fluid will result in damage to the power steering pump.
4. Bleed air from the system.
