Clutch Disc
Inspection
1. Replace if flywheel contact facing is hardened.
Notice: An oil-contaminated disc should always be replaced.
2. Replace if facing rivets are loose or missing.
3. Replace worn disc. Measure rivet head depth with a slide caliper.
Minimum depth: 0.012 inch (0.3 mm)
4. Check runout of disc.
Maximum: 0.027 inch (0.7 mm)
5. Replace if spline is worn or heavily rusted. Minor rust may be removed with steel wool.
Release Bearing
Inspection
Notice: Do not clean release bearing with solvent. Solvent will remove sealed-in lubricant and will cause bearing failure.
1. Rotate the bearing in both directions and check for any binding or abnormal noise.
2. Replace if diaphragm spring or release fork contact surfaces are worn or damaged.
