Transmission Mount: Service and Repair
Transmission Crossmember Mount
TRANSMISSION CROSSMEMBER MOUNT
Notice: All photos are of the 4X4 Sportage. The 4X2 Sportage is similar (unless otherwise noted).
Removal
1. Raise the vehicle and support it with safety stands.
2. Support the transmission with a transmission jack before removing the crossmember.
3. Remove eight chassis bolts and four mount nuts.
4. Remove the transmission crossmember assembly.
5. Remove two bolts from the rubber mount and remove the mount from the transfer case (4X4 only).
Inspection
Inspect the transfer case mount for cracked or brittle rubber, and bent or damaged flanges. Replace if necessary.
Installation
1. Reinstall the rubber mount onto the bottom of transfer case using two bolts. (4X4 only).
Tightening torque: 80 ft. lbs. (108 Nm).
2. Reinstall the transmission crossmember assembly using eight chassis bolts.
Tightening torque: 32 ft. lbs. (44 Nm).
3. Reinstall four mount nuts.
Tightening torque: 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm).
4. Remove the transmission jack.
5. Lower the vehicle.
