DESCRIPTION OF COMPONENTS

2.4 JTD 10V

CRANKSHAFT

Specifications

Type

This is cast iron and rests on six main bearings. Shaft axial clearance is governed by two half-rings housed in the rear main bearing.

Ten counterweights balance the crankshaft rotary masses with precision.

A set of channels runs along the length of the crankshaft to lubricate the main journals and crankpins.

A phonic wheel is fitted at the rear for the rpm sensor.

DESCRIPTION OF COMPONENTS

ENGINE FLYWHEEL

Specifications

Type

This DVA (dual damping flywheel) comes with two weights, one integral with the crankshaft and one with the gearbox mainshaft with an intervening flexible damping system.

the resonance points, located between 800 and 2200 rpm on a conventional system, are shifted toward lower rpms outside the service range.

The clutch engagement mechanism, located between the dual flywheel and gearbox, consists of a rigid plate (unsprung) that improves gear manoeuvrability due to its reduced inertia.

DESCRIPTION OF COMPONENTS
  • 1 Crankshaft
  • 2 Mass integral with crankshaft
  • 3 Mass integral with gearbox mainshaft
  • 4 Flexible torsional damping system
  • 5 Clutch plate
  • 6 Thrust spring
  • 7 Thrust bearing
  • 8 Gearbox mainshaft
  • 9 Ring gear

3.0 V6, 3.2 V6

CRANKSHAFT

The shaft is forged out of high strength nitrided steel and rests on four main bearings. The shaft shoulder is on the rear main bearing.

Nine counterweights allow accurate balancing of rotating masses.

A channel running along the length of the shaft lubricates the main journals and crankpins.

DESCRIPTION OF COMPONENTS

ENGINE FLYWHEEL

A doppia massa, DVA (doppio volano ammortizzatore), una solidale all'albero motore e una all'albero primario del cambio con interposto un sistema elastico torsionale di smorzamento.

The resonance points, located between 800 and 2000 rpm on a conventional system, are shifted toward lower rpms, outside the service range.

The clutch engagement is located between the dual flywheel and gearbox and consists of a rigid plate (unsprung) that improves gear manoevrability due to its low inertia.

DESCRIPTION OF COMPONENTS
  • 1 Crankshaft.
  • 2 Weight integral with the crankshaft.
  • 3 Weight integral with the gearbox mainshaft.
  • 4 Flexible torsional damping system.
  • 5 Clutch plate.
  • 6 Thrust spring.
  • 7 Thrust bearing.
  • 8 Gearbox mainshaft
  • 9 Ring gear

DESCRIPTION OF COMPONENTS

ENGINE FLYWHEEL

Specifications

Type

Twin damper flywheel (DVA) with dual ramp. This flywheel consists of two masses, one forming one piece with the crankshaft and the other with the gearbox main shaft, via the clutch plate. There is a dual ramp, torsional flexible system between these two masses created by two pairs of springs with differentiated operation depending on the torque transmitted.

The clutch engagement mechanism, located between the dual flywheel and gearbox, consists of a rigid plate (unsprung) that improves gear manoeuvrability due to its reduced inertia.

DESCRIPTION OF COMPONENTS
  • 1 Mass integral with engine
  • 2 Mass integral with gearbox mainshaft
  • 3 Flexible torsional damping system
  • 4 Ring gear

CRANKSHAFT

Specifications

Type

Forged in high-strength alloy steel, with induction hardened pins and rolled grooves.

Resting on six main bearings with interposed half-bearings divided into three size categories.

Crankshaft axial clearance is adjusted by two half-rings housed on the third main bearing.

Ten counterweights balance the crankshaft rotary masses with precision.

A channel running along the length of the crankshaft lubricates the main journals and crankpins.

A phonic wheel is fitted at the rear for the rpm sensor.

2.4 20V

CRANKSHAFT

Specifications

Type

Forged in high resistance steel alloy, hardened and tempered on bearings and rolled on grooves.

Resting on six main journals with half-bearings divided into three classes.

The crankshaft endfloat is adjusted by two half-rings housed on the third main journal.

Ten counter-weights improve the balance of the crankshaft rotating masses.

A duct runs inside the crankshaft to lubricate the main journals and crankpins.

The rpm sensor flywheel is fitted at the rear.

DESCRIPTION OF COMPONENTS
