HANDBRAKE NOT WORKING PROPERLY

When the handbrake is operated the rear wheels are not locked.

STEPOPERATIONS TO BE CARRIED OUTTEST RESULTS
1CHECK USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENTALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION

Connect the Examiner diagnostic equipment to the diagnostic connector check the following at the Parking Brake Node (N.P.B.):in error environment

  • that there are no faults;

in parameters ambient

  • the plausibility of all the parameters
Move on to Step1. No dialogue with the NPB control unit

Restore the connection between the NPB control unit and the diagnostic socket

Presence of errors in the NPB control unit2. Continue following the instructions in the diagnostic table

With the Examiner diagnostic equipment connected to the diagnostic socket, carry out the active diagnosis of the rear brake caliper actuatorsMove on to StepActuators not activatedMove on to Step
3ELECTRICAL SYSTEM CHECK.ALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION

Check the continuity/insulation of the electrical connections between the Parking Brake Node (N.P.B.) and the rear caliper actuators

Move on to Step1. Electrical connections faulty

1. Restore the connections

2. Electrical connections correct: actuators faulty2. Replace the rear brake caliper actuatotrs [PR.3380A66]
4CHECK ON CORRECT OPERATIONALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION

Check the correct static and dynamic operation of the parking brake

The test is essential becaues the braking system is one of the vehicle's safety systems

Fault persistsReplace the parking brake control unit [PR.3380A64]
