SUBJECT
Rear Footwell Carpet Loose Fit At Seat Plinth
DETAIL
The rear footwell carpet can under certain conditions appear to be a loose fit at the front of the rear footwell where the front seat rear plinth runs across
the vehicle. This condition is caused by the harness that runs behind the plinth under the carpet. To overcome this condition the harness requires
re-positioning between the NVH insulation pad and floor.
ACTION REQUIRED
Upon customer complaint of a loose footwell carpet follow the instructions to re-position the harness.
PARTS INFORMATION
Loctite 495 adhesive
PROCEDURE
1.
Remove the front and rear door tread strips.
2.
Remove the front seat belt anchorages.
3.
Remove the "B" post lower trim.
4.
Remove the rear seats.
5.
Lift the rear footwell carpet and reposition the NVH pad rearwards to create a channel between the NVH pad and front seat plinth creating a
channel of approximately 10-15 mm.
6.
Run the harness down the channel and tape in position.
7.
At the Center console, pull the harness up and feed through the underside of the console which will hold off the footwell carpet.
8.
At the point where the carpet meets the channel apply a bead of Loctite 495 adhesive across the top of the NVH to secure the carpet in place.
9.
Refit all the remaining components ensuring that the footwell carpet fits satisfactorily.
