SITUATION:
REPAIR REQUIREMENTS FOR PAINTED PLASTIC TRIM
Collision repair and repainting of plastic trim components for 1998 vehicles requires special procedures and the use of paints and additives specially
formulated for use on plastic components.
RESOLUTION:
REPAIR AND PAINT DAMAGED OR REPLACEMENT PLASTIC COMPONENTS
Following the special procedures outlined in this TIB, and the technical data sheets in the Glasurit Technical Manual available from BASF, prepare

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
CAUTION: Refer to the appropriate technical data sheet in the Glasurit Technical Manual for detailed processing instructions.
NOTE: Wet-on-wet application of paints is also possible. Allow 30 minute flash off before applying top coat.
PREPARATION
1. Clean and degrease the area to be repaired with warm water and soap.
2. Clean any bare plastic areas with cleaner 541-30.
NOTE: Plastic adhesion promoter 934-0 is ready to use as packaged.
3. Spray one coat of plastic adhesion promoter on any bare plastic areas.
4. Allow adhesion promoter to flash off for 15 minutes at 68°F.
CAUTION: Elastifier must be added to primer before hardener.
5. Elastify primer 25% by volume (4:1 ratio).
6. Apply two coats of elastified primer to the damaged area.
