DETAIL

Brake squeal can occur when high-performance brakes are lightly applied.

New anti-squeal shims have been installed at the Factory beginning with VIN TA174932 and TA505844. The shims reduce the tendency for brakes to
squeal when customers brake lightly.

The new shims are currently approved for 1996 model Discovery only. Do not install shims in 1994-95 models.

ACTION REQUIRED

Install shims in early 1996 vehicles prior to delivery, or at the customers convenience during a service visit.

PARTS INFORMATION

Service kits for each vehicle currently in your inventory and 40% of vehicles retailed by your dealership within the affected VIN range accompany this
bulletin.

Service kits are not available through the LRNA parts supply system at this time.

PROCEDURE

1.

Remove front wheels.

2.

Remove front brake pads.

3.

Install shims in all front caliper pistons ensuring that the teeth are inside the piston bore and shims are fully seated.

4.

Remove the protective paper from the shim face exposing adhesive.
