The exact location and width of the elastomeric sealant bead is critical in order to produce an oil-tight seal.

If using the Ivory White Hylomar(R) 101, allow the RTV bead to form a "skin" (about 2 minutes depending on the ambient temperature/humidity)
before installing the oil pan to the block flange.

If elastomeric gasket maker (LRNA25223) is used, the pan may be installed immediately, but it must be installed within five minutes of applying
bead.

Using recommended elastomeric sealant (Permatex(R) Elastomeric Gasket Maker or Hylomar(R) 101 Ivory White RTV), apply a 4 mm. (0.160
in.) bead on the oil pan flange in the path shown. Also apply sealant "circles" in the areas shown in figure 5. These "circles" should coincide with
the joints in the sealing surface at the front cover and rear main bearing cap area.

Remove any old accumulated RTV sealant from the tips of the bolts or studs and clean thoroughly.
