DETAIL

The alloy wheels fitted to both Range Rover and Discovery are of the Asymmetric Hump (AH2) type. These wheels have a variable internal profile
around the circumference to improve retention of the tire and, consequently, driving security in the event of a deflation.

The working principal of the AH2 wheel is that the profile of each bead seat is made up of two safety humps of normal diameter. The centers of these
humps are offset from the center of rotation of the wheel by the standard hump height and are mutually out of phase by 180 degrees. This in effect gives
double hump height for bead retention, but during fitting and removal, requires the tire to pass over the standard hump diameter only.

In general, tire fitting and removal procedures are the same as for normal wheels, but will be facilitated by paying particular attention to the instructions
identified in the procedure listed.

When removing or fitting tires to alloy wheel rims the procedure identified below is to be followed.

PROCEDURE

When fitting:

1.

Lubricate the tire beads and the rim flanges. 

2.

Commence with the valve at the 6 0'clock position. (Valve opposite the fitting head of the machine)

3.

Do not exceed 3.5 bar (50 psi) in order to seat the tire on the rim.

4.

If the tire does not seat at this pressure, deflate, turn the tire on the rim, relubricate and carry out the procedure again.
