To ensure that connector terminals are seated correctly within the connector, check that the white anti-backout mechanism lays flat up against the
connector mating face (Figure 2 and 4). If the anti-backout mechanism is not flat to the mating face, it is possible that one or more of the connector
terminal latching tangs has become deformed. The deformed terminal may interfere with the correct seating of the anti-backout mechanism. The latching
tangs of connectors with many cavities are more likely to become deformed because of the larger number of terminals involved.

When removing the ECM for service, ensure that the anti-backout mechanism is removed from the ECM and installed back on to the harness connector.

NOTE:

Before returning ECM's for warranty analysis, ensure that the white anti-backout mechanism is removed.
