Using suitable tool, hold flange and loosen pinion nut.

Remove flange.

Using a suitable puller, remove seat.

B.

Inspection

1.

Inspect seal locating bore and remove any sharp edges that may damage the new seal.

2.

Check breather for proper operation.

C.

Installation

1.

Ensure that all mating surfaces are clean. 

2.

Lubricate new oil seal tips with axle oil.

3.

Using tool # LRT-51-010, install seal in differential (figure 1).

4.

Examine spacer for damage and replace if necessary.

5.

Install spacer and position flange (figure 2).

6.

Using LRT-51-003 tool, hold flange and secure with new Nyloc(R) nut.

7.

Tighten Nyloc(R) nut to 130 Nm. (96 lbf. ft.).

8.

Secure driveshaft with bolts and new nuts. Tighten to 47 Nm. (35 lbf. ft.).

9.

Replenish axle oil.

A.

Seal Removal

1.

Remove nuts and bolts securing driveshaft to differential. Release shaft and tie aside.
