Perform the diagnostic procedures and repairs outlined in this bulletin for the repair of leaking differential pinion seals.

WARRANTY:

Normal warranty procedures and policies apply.

COMP.CODE:

SRO:

Rear: 51.20.01 - Time 0.55 hr. 
Replace rear differential pinion seal

Front: 54.10.20 - Time 0.55 hr. 
Replace front differential pinion seal

Front Seal Replacement

A.

Seal Removal

1.

Remove nuts and bolts securing driveshaft to flange and tie driveshaft to the side.

2.

Using suitable tool, hold flange and loosen pinion nut.

3.

Remove flange.

4.

Using a suitable puller, remove seat.

B.

Inspection

1.

Inspect seal locating bore and remove any sharp edges that may damage the new seal.

2.

Check breather for proper operation.

C.

Installation

1.

Ensure that all mating surfaces are clean. 

2.

Lubricate new oil seal tips with axle oil.
