Remove seal with tool # LRT-54-A01 or equivalent.

Inspection

1.

Inspect seal locating bore and remove any sharp edges that may damage new seal.

2.

Check axle breather for proper operation.

Installation

1.

Lubricate oil seal lips with axle oil.

2.

Using tool # LRT-51-010, install seal in differential.

NOTE: 

Ensure dust shield is correctly fitted and seated onto flange.

3.

Position new flange and hold with tool LRT-51-003 (figure 4).

4. Using new Nyloc(R) nut, tighten to 130 Nm. (96 lbf. ft.).

5.

Coat centralizing peg with Loctite(R) 601 or 638 and fit over pinion retaining nut in drive flange.

6.

Reinstall driveshaft with bolts and new nuts. Tighten to 47 Nm. (35 lbf. ft.).

7.

Replenish axle oil.

Final Inspection

1.

Road test vehicle.

2.

Verify that there are no leaks from pinion seals.

3.

Mark nose of front and rear differentials with marker to identify that new seal has been installed.
