Replace front seal

Replace rear seal
PROCEDURE
Preparation
1.
Inspect front and rear transfer gearbox seals for leakage.
NOTE: If one seal is determined to be leaking, then both the front and rear seals should be replaced at the same time.
2.
When a leak is identified, drain the transfer gearbox oil.
3.
Replace seals as described.
Front Seal Removal
1.
Remove front driveshaft, and tie to one side.
2.
Using tool LRT-51-003 to hold flange, loosen nut and remove front output flange. (figure 1).
3.
Using tool LRT-54-AO1 or equivalent, carefully remove leaking seal. Properly dispose of old seal.
Inspection
1.
Inspect the oil seal bore for damage or sharp edges.
