Description and operationHorn · page 2 of 2

The feed from the battery positive terminal also passes through fuse link 6 and fuse 6 of the engine compartment fusebox which are connected in series. The feed is connected from the engine compartment fusebox (C573-3) and is connected on a brown wire to the switch contacts of the horn relay (C130-8). A branch from this feed is also connected to the coil of the horn relay (C130-4), also on a brown wire.

An earth path from the coil of the horn relay (C130-6) is connected by a purple and yellow wire to the CCU (C430-5). The feed from the horn relay switch contacts (C130-2) is connected on a purple and yellow wire to the horn (C003-1). An earth path is completed from the horn (C003-2) on a black wire to an earth header joint (C017-3).

When the horn button is depressed, an earth path is completed and the horn switch within the CCU is energized. This provides an earth path to allow the feed from fuse 6 in the engine compartment fusebox to energize the horn relay. The completed earth path causes the horn relay switch contacts to close, which allows the feed from fuse 6 in the engine compartment fusebox to pass to the horn, which will sound.
