Rear Multimedia System Description
General
The rear multimedia system provides video and audio entertainment for the rear seat occupants. The system allows
rear seat occupants to:
l
Play video Digital Versatile Discs (DVDs), video Compact Discs (CDs) and audio CDs stored in the DVD player
l
View the Television (TV) output selected on the Multi Function Display (MFD) unit (with the vehicle moving and
stationary)
The video and TV pictures are viewed on Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) screens in the back of the front seats. The
audio output can be played through cordless headphones or over the vehicle audio system speakers, except for the
TV audio output, which is only available over the vehicle audio system speakers.
The rear multimedia system consists of the following components:

A master switch panel
l
Two Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) screens

Two screen driver units
l
A DVD autochanger
l
A line driver (non Logic 7 audio systems only)
l
A visual splitter unit
l
Two infrared sensors
l
An infrared control unit
l
Two cordless headphones
l
A remote control
l
A voltage sensitive switch and relay
l
Noise filter
l
Logic unit
l
CD switch
Master Switch Panel
The master switch panel is installed on the front overhead console, and allows front seat occupants to retain overall
control of the rear multimedia system. The master switch panel incorporates a power switch and an audio switch. The
latching switches are identified by function symbols on the panel.
The power switch is the master on/off switch for the system, and operates the power relay which controls the power
supplies to the system. The audio switch allows the audio output of the rear multimedia system to be played on the
vehicle audio system speakers, while still being played through the cordless headphones. For the audio switch to
operate, the vehicle audio system must be in the CD mode.
