Starting System - No or Slow Crank After Water Immersion
No: LTB00073
Issue: 1
Date: 31 Jul 2007
SECTION: 303-06
Starter Breather Extension for Arduous Use Vehicles
AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:
Land Rover LR2 (LF)
VIN: ALL
CONDITION SUMMARY:
INSTALL EXTENDED BREATHER TO PREVENT STARTER DAMAGE
Situation:
The vehicle may fail to crank when attempting to start, or may crank slowly. The condition is likely following immersion in water such as when
negotiating a stream or other deep water. Water may have entered the starter motor via the breather tube.
Action:
Should a customer complain of these symptoms, a 'snorkel' kit should be installed to allow the starter motor to 'breathe' above the wading line to prevent
a repeat occurrence after appropriate starter repairs if required.
