Steering Wheel Alignment
MODEL
Range Rover Classic Discovery
DETAIL
Steering wheel alignment was introduced as part of the Pre-delivery inspection from the above Vin numbers. During launch of these vehicles, it was found that a large number of vehicles had steering wheels that were more than 45 degrees offset and therefore required more than adjustment at the drag link (part of the PDI). A bulletin was subsequently raised to address this issue (57/07/94/EN). Since the introduction of this bulletin, various new processes and inspections have been introduced, An on line adjustment process has been introduced which ensures that the steering wheel is within +/- 45 degrees. The final adjustment is then carried out at PDI on the drag link only. . Note: This information replaces bulletin 57/01/95/EN steering wheel alignment, due to a part number change on the steering box peg.
ACTION REQUIRED
At Pre-Delivery Inspection check and adjust drag link only if steering wheel is within +/- 45 degrees of centre (0) as shown in the illustration.
