MODEL

Range Rover

DETAIL

During internal quality checks a door rattle has been identified on New Range Rover. Investigations by Land Rover engineers have found that the sill button may rattle in the door trim escutcheon due to poor compression of the sill button side springs, on vehicles upto the above Vin number.

Note: This bulletin supersedes 76/03/97 as the information in the procedure section has been amended

ACTION REQUIRED

Upon customer complaint of a rattle on any of the doors, check the sill button for rattle in the door trim escutcheon, if the sill button is found to be the cause follow the process detailed below.

PARTS INFORMATION

ALR 0083 Sill button link rod

ASR 2464LNF Sill button

PROCEDURE

1. Remove cheater panel (front door only) and door trim, refer to the workshop manual section 76. Care point: take care not to break the clips on the side of the sill button. 2. Unscrew the sill button and adjust the springs outwards to give 24mm outer distance see illustration opposite, ( on rear doors only remove sill button and linkrod from door, hold link rod in a vice at bend blow threaded section, carefully straighten bend to give approximately 4mm difference from original position at top of sill button see illustration overleaf), the sill springs can be adjusted at the same time. 3. Replace the sill button, ensure alignment to top of the 3 bars on the door skin, ensure the sill button is parallel to the door when in the open position (see the illustrations overleaf for front and rear sill button adjustment). 4. Replace door trim and cheater panel. 5. Repeat procedure for rear door.
